Resonance Networks gets number porting and 000 capability
Resonance Networks, Australia's number one B2B VoIP provider has entered the big leagues recently with the company gaining the ability to port telephone numbers from virtualy any telecommunications provider in Australia.

The biggest problems with VoIP in Australia have been the fact that the ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority) has regulations in place that every business has to have the ability to call triple zero (000) in case of an emergency. This has ben the caveat that has stopped many business owners from moving to a completely VoIP telephony solution.

Resonance Networks has become one of the first Australian VoIP providers to move this mountain and be able to provide a VoIP solution that is wholly ACMA compliant as a stand alone telephony service.

Along with the ability to provide emergency services calling capability the other big problem has been the inability to be able to keep your existing phone number if you were planning o move to a VoIP solution. This is a massive problem within the VoIP provision community for the reason of all the previous marketing a company has done and all the existing customers the business has will be unable to contact them without being contacted by the business that now uses VoIP first. In short no business wants to change phone numbers if they can avoid it and a saving on call costs is not likely to persuade them to do it.

The only alternatives to these two problems was to keep a PSTN/ISDN line running so the business could keep within regulations and keep their number. But Resonance Networks provides telecommunications services to business only and needed to come up with solutions to these problems.

It cost a lot of money! and many months of negotiation to get it underway but we finally have the ability to port numbers from other PSTN providers and be able to call emergency services from any of our lines. To us we are not only happy that WE can do it, but happy for the industry that the big players have finally realised that VoIP is the future and there is no turning back now.
