In order to have a basic functional VoIP system there are several pieces of hardware that you will need to acquire. Firstly you will need to be running an ADSL2 internet connection. This will give you the sufficient up and down speed to insure that you don't have a problem with voice packet transfer which could lead to a breaking up of the call. It is important to note that VoIP requires relatively high up speed so ADSL2 will give you a great crystal clear VoIP service assuming the other pieces of VoIP hardware you are using are also of high quality and your VoIP service provider has a clear service.
The next piece of hardware necessary for a basic VoIP setup is a VoIP router. This is a crucial piece of hardware to ensure that your setup runs smoothly. Your VoIP router will act as a voice gateway between your internet connection and your phone. Due to the huge ammount of packet data that is transferred in the use of VoIP you should make sure that the VoIP router you choose is a quality piece of hardware. In my personal experience I have had numerous occassions where I have had VoIP routers fail. This is not a pleasant experience as it will leave you without a VoIP phone system and also a wireless network and if the failure is complete (complete not response of hardware) then without a functional internet connection. I personally have chewed through about six VoIP routers, four of them Netcomm ranging in price from ninety five dollars to two hundred and fifty dollars. Just when my faith in reliable VoiP for small users was starting to pass a shining light came from above. 'BILLION' , thankyou for restoring my faith in the basic VoIP router. After being put onto Billion VoIP routers while posting on a forum I am sold for life. Billion, the computer networkers secret was finally revealed to me. Since first finding Billion VoIP routers I have replaced four faulty netcomms with different Billion VoIP router. They have a VoIP router for every function and on top of that their functionality is far superior to what i had become accustomed. Mostly to do with their on board programming system which is easily programmed online. But i guess what most impressed me is their reliability. I have not received one call from customers that i have installed them into other than to say that their system is running smoothly. So at the chance of sounding monotonous i would just like to take this opportunity to once again thank the Billion company for making my life easier and for making brilliant VoIP routers. So please if you are looking to move to VoIP do yourself a BIG favour. Buy yourself a Billion VoIP router ! You wont be disappointed. |
