The final piece of hardware to will need to acquire to have a functional VoIP phone system is of course your VoIP phone. This can come in the way of a handset or as a soft phone, downloadable onto your computer. Your choice of VoIP phone will depend greatly on whether it is for a residential VoIP system or a Business VoIP phone system. This will also be a big determining factor on the price you pay for your VoIP phone.
If you are looking to purchase a VoIP phone for a residential VoIP system then you will probably looking to spend in the way of one hundred dollars. As it is only for residential VoIP you will no doubt be looking for a basic type phone setup and high functionality will probably be less of a determining factor than price or reliability. VoIP providers like My Net Phone have pre packaged bundells that are available from several larger retail outlets which have proved to be quite popular. This takes the difficulties out of having to design a residential VoIP set up for the less technical amongst us who still want to make the most of the savings available by connecting to VoIP. There are also many residential VoIP providers out there who sell hardware to go along with their provision who should be able to advise customers on what type of VoIP phone would suit their needs best. In the business VoIP phone market there are far more choices available to us. With more and more manufacturers coming into the market and it seems like a model to suit every occasion it would be easy to get confused when trying to purchase a business VoIP phone. Along with price and reliability, use and functionality are also bound to be big determining factors in the Business VoIP handset market and perhaps branding also. Some of the bigger more well known brands in the market are Cisco, Linksy's, Snom, Polycom and Grandstream just to name a few. All with varying price ranges and functionality. There is know doubt that the business VoIP handset market is becoming a more and more lucrative market as more and more businesses are starting to make the switch over to VoIP. My policy when Choosing a VoIP phone for a business VoIP sytem has always been to go with reliability to a specific budget. I tend to lean toward Linksy's or snom because they have been proven in the marketplace and although they may be a bit pricier than brands like Grandstream they have the reliability and functionality to match. I guess my advise to people looking to switch their business over to VoIP would be have a good look around. Do your research and ask a lot of questions. Jump onto a forum and ask for some opinions. there are quality Business VoIP solution designers out there and they should be able to give you the right help to enable you to make the right decisions for your business. |
